These reeds are profiled to my setup on the Reeds 'N Stuff machine. They are cut to 70mm and can be finished with a bit more scraping. If you want to save time or need help getting the contours of the scrape started, this is a great way to go! They are not ready to play! But with a bit more work, can be finished far more quickly than starting from scratch. Regular shipping applies. International orders have seperate shipping and handling to be determined.

Each and every Reed Daddy "Pro Superior" oboe reed is gouged, hand scraped and play tested to guarantee the best possible sound and response. Made on 47mm brass tubes and tuned to A440, the reeds are still flexible enough to handle any pitch situation a professional or amateur is likely to experience.

Reeds are categorized as Principal (preferred for performing principal oboe and solo literature when high note response is important), Second (better low range response and sound).

The best choice for solos with an emphasis on high range ability.  Dark sound with stable tone and a round edge. Most of these reeds would be perfectly capable of being used by second chair players also, although low range response may not be quite as subdued as second oboe reeds. If buying 2 Principal and Two Second, consider buying the five reed package with a mixture (by request). Save money on the cost of reeds and shipping!!!! Our Superior Second Oboe reeds are completely hand made for stable pitch with an easier response. These reeds will have a beautiful tone for easy blending and will ephasize low note playability. Many would probably be equally adept as Principal oboe reeds, however they are intended to facilitate playing second oboe.

Our English Horn reeds are made on 27mm silver staples and made to play at 440. We do not use wire or fishskin on our reeds, although they could be added by the end user. Reeds are built for stable pitch and a dark, but penetrating sound. No sagging high G's allowed! A crow of G#, or concert C#, is ideal.
